I7 950 bsod 101

Thread Starter
hello all, first time posting long time lurker on these forums

my problem is my i7 950 has had a stable overclock of 4.1 GHz for the past month and a half (ran 20 passes of Linx using all memory and did 25 hours of Prime95 on blend). but the past 2 days while playing WoW it has crashed with a 101 BSOD.

the air-con has been turned off these past couple of weeks and the past couple of days has been rather hot here and i was wondering if that may have had anything to do with it? I'm not sure if it would I am just grasping for straws lol

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe that the -0101 BSOD code means not enough Vcore, or whatever cockamamie advertising name As.s has cooked up for Vcore.

Yeah a 101 is usually indicative of a need to bump the vcore. How long ago did you OC and stabilize the chip? Did you have HTing enabled when you stabilized the chip and did you do anything that might have caused an instability, i.e. changing settings etc?

I doubt its a temp issue, but how hot is it where you are?

HT is not enabled and i did the OC around mid November and as i said in my OP did 25 hour stability tests and everything was fine and it's been fine until these past 2 days where i have gotten the BSOD once a day and then never again during that day.

i also have not changed any settings since i did the OC

it is also probably a good 35-40 C

Honestly you need to restore stability you should go back through the OC processor. If you don't want to go through another 24 hours, just bump your Vcore up 0.025 and run IBT for 10 runs on maximum.

yeah i was hoping not to have to add more vcore and increase the temps but looks like i will have too.

i am curious as to why this has happened out of the blue like this as it has been fine ever since i did the OC confused.gif

CPUs can degrade over time, especially when you run them at higher temps.

Also your cpu might have just been on the brink of stability at your current voltage adding the .025 might be enough to have you problem free for the rest of your CPUs life.

that's rather probable, i am doing a couple of tests now with Linx and i'll see where that takes me

thank you for the help smile.gif
