I believe 10.12 is for everything and 10.12a hotfix is for 69xx. 10.12 adds the new CCC look. 10.12a is the old CCC app.

Why does it need the msi bios anyways when you can unlock most things with AB anyways? Which card is it btw?

previous owner(s) put the bios on it. not sure why tbh but they did. I go with the notion that a vga card flash is the LAST thing I will attempt.

its reference xfx 5870

Well, if it ain't a software issue, you said drivers didn't fix it and it isn't a config issue with AB... you did try uninstalling AB right? You'll need to take a peek at that bios and check the voltage settings. RBE, radeon bios editor...

Ok well outta curiousity i kinda started clicking every setting in AB. After setting some profiles then turning them off the voltage doesnt jump to 1.65 anymore. All is well. I even restarted twice without opening AB to make sure everything is ok and it is.

how do you KNOW its actually 1.65v?

I guarantee its a software bug and its not actually putting 1.65v into your card. I would only get the afterburner extreme version to pump 1.425v into my reference 5850. (the slider went to over 1.6v)

use a digital multi meter to check if you really think its using 1.65v
then come back and if it is ask for help. if not then your good.

well I could tell it was 1.65 since every app said it was and as soon as 1.65 kicked in it shot str8 to 90C in like 5 secs before me closing the app (furmark/kombustor/occt/unigine)

all ths points to is a voltage spike. its a known fact that software voltage reeadings are often incorrect. however, I will agree that they are pointing towards a large spike in voltage to the GPU. this is very odd.
