Keep or Sell?

post #1 of 10
Thread Starter
Just bought this SSD a few days ago on buy.com for $75 after MIR, I thought it was a pretty good deal. Just got it today and debating whether I should resell this and get a better one. I don't have a rig right now because I'm waiting for SB. So I can either:

a) Sell it for a bit of profit
(Will have to sell on eBay or Amazon, don't have enough rep to sell here yet)

b) Put it in my MacBook Pro, but maybe its a little bit small (64GB)?

c) Use it as the boot drive on my next build which will be something within this month.

I don't see many reviews or talk about Kingston SSDs, are they just not as popular as OCZ?

http://www.buy.com/pr/product.aspx?sku=214308839

Thanks for any input =D

This.

And depends. I would probably sell, as they are probably going to drop dramatically in price soon, as they become mainstream.

I'd stay stick with it for Boot-drive.
Stick with your OS and whatever programs/games you use most, that shouldn't exceed 50gb. Put the rest on a 32mb 1tb drive and you are good. The price of larger capacity SSDs just don't match the benefits. You don't need to have your movies, documents, files, etc on an SSD, stick to what really gets a boost from it.

Probably won't see any significant reductions until Intel G3 released. They are supposed to be announced this week, so sometime in Q1 I am guessing for release date. (new Sandforce still a ways away).

Sell. This is for the 128GB which usually performs better then their 64GB siblings. While still an improvement over a HDD, this drive is a poor performer compared to others out there right now. Get a new one when you are ready.

Cool, I think I will sell it then. Any recommendations for a 128GB one?

* A-DATA S599 Series
* Corsair Force Series
* Mushkin Callisto Series
* OCZ Vertex 2 Series
* OWC Mercury
* Patriot Inferno Series

All of these are pretty much identical SSDs with the same performance. Whatever is the cheapest grab it. If you are waiting to buy, ask again before you buy in case something else comes out that is better.

If you want the best random/read speed, go for the Crucial C300.
