Need Help Pushing 1090T A Little More - Page 5

gt ap-15 is only so popular because of the CFM/dB ratio, not because they have the highest airflow/static pressure... but if noise is not a concern, go with sans ace like iosefini suggested

dont worry, 3ghz nb is already really great and a very noticeable improvement from stock

the differences between 3ghz vs 3.2 or 3.4 will probably be minimal and not worth the extra cpu-nb voltage/heat

well i tried to order the san aces and just got an email they are not available...

i bumped my cpu/nb voltage to 1.403 to match the cpu and jumped my np up to 3400mhz and its been priming for the past hour or more with no issues and only a 1c increase in temps but my room is 1c warmer then it was earlier so that could be the reason.

well i just hit the 24 hour prime mark with no errors running 4.1ghz, 3.4ghz NB and a peak temp of 58c. I locked these settings in my OC Profile in the bios.

Would i be better off lowering my cpu clock to 4.0ghz and trying t push the NB more?? How much performance difference is there between 4.0 and 4.1 anyways?

The temp is pretty high, imo. Max safe temp is supposed to be 62C, and you're not leaving much on the table for everyday operation.

The reason you can't boot with 1T command rate is a problem in the memory controller. AMD knows it's a problem, and it's been that way since the first Athlon 64s rolled out. Some chips will handle 4 DIMMs and 1T CR. Mine is one of those. But, it could be actual voltages the motherboard uses, and you're using an Asus, while I use a Gigabyte. 2T CR is not a bad thing, and should be considered normal and fine. 1T is just showing the memory controller is something special.
Granted, I'm only doing a mild OC on my chip, mostly just because I don't want a loud rig (and the 6970 is more than loud enough at idle), but running 8gigs (assuming 4x2 type) is hard on any memory controller, including Intel ones. 2x4GB stick setups are easy to do 1T on, since less stress (guessing mem controller transmission power) is placed on the mem controller. Just some food for thought, but try to get those temps lower...I'd hate to see a 1090T die...I like those chips
