I7 950 stabled at 3.81Ghz. Help to 4.0Ghz, pls?

My hardware is:

i7 950
Asus Sabertooth x58
8GB (4gb x2) G.Skill DDR3 ram at 1664Mhz. Will get another stick soon for triple channel.
Geforce GTX470
875W Thermaltake PSU

My 3.81Ghz set up is:

Cpu ratio: 23.0x
BLCK: 166
DRAM: 1664Mhz
Vcore: Passed at 1.25v and 1.29375v
QPI/DRAM Core voltage: Passed at 1.28v and 1.30v, failed at 1.25v
IOH Voltage: 1.10v
DRAM Bus Voltage: 1.65v
Timings: 9-9-9-24
^^^ Stable.

I've tried the following to get to 4.0Ghz (BLCK: 174 and DRAM - 1744Mhz)
Vcore: 1.29v, 1.3065v. These two voltage settings failed
QPI/DRAM Core Voltage: 1.35v. 1.37500v. These two voltage settings failed
I didn't take note of the combination unfortunately. I think it was 1.29v vcore ~ 1.37500v QPI and 1.3065v vcore ~ 1.35v QPI.

IOH Voltage, ram timings, and DRAM Bus Voltage not changed. Only vcore and QPI.

Tested with IntelBurn at maximum stress level.

On another note, my vcore right now using my 3.8 set up is 1.240v. Getting temps at idle at: 40,36,40,37. Are these normal temps? Using a cooler master 212 Plus cooler with push/pull function. Which pops another question, the push fan is at 2000RPM and the pull fan is at 1800RPM. I heard they have to go as fast equally?

Thanks in advance
its better to have the same fans for push/pull setups. Also, idle temps don't mean squat. We go by full load temps. It could be your ram thats holding you back though. I'd underclock the ram in order to get 4.0 using 175x23. For me to get my 950 stable at 4.0 all I had to do was change vcore, nothing else.

Will it help if I get an extra stick and go triple channel?
Do this:
1) Vcore 1.29
2) QPI 1.29
3) Underclock you ram. Choose 1066 if possible. Yes thats slow, you'll bring it up later.
4) Stress test system and monitor temps.
5) If sucessful, lower Vcore. Keep doing this till you reach lowest stable Vcore.

6) Now you can slowly bring you memory speed up.

Lasty, your memory may not play nice with a new third stick of memory. Even if you get the exact same third stick of memory.

Much more adjustments and tuning to be done, but that is the bare basics.
Those idle temps you have are not as important as you load stress temps.

Underclock ram, as stated above. Temps are fine as long as on load they dont get too close to 80.

No the extra stick won't help stabilize it. Your ram is most likely crashing.

What is your ram rated for? 1600? 9-9-9-24?

You should be able to get 4.0ghz with no more than 1.3v for sure. 1600mhz ram, use 1.35v on qpi/dram voltage.

my 950 is nice and stable @ 3.8 (19X200) with 1.22 vcore and 1.32 vtt, but if I want 4+ghz, i need a pretty big vcore bump and a vtt bump. as it stands now, it take 1.36 vcore and a 1.39 vtt to get stable at 4ghz. and it seems that it doesn't really matter how i get there 191X21, or 200X20, (been told that the even multis don;t work as well, but i haven't seen that).
Anyway, that is too much voltage for my modest cooling. I have gotten a second fan to do the push pull, but it didn't help much if any. I think i may try to reset it again and get some tim up in the heat pipe gaps, Someone said that helps too. I'm still tweaking when i get a chance, and hopefully will be able to get it down a tad by adjusting some of the other settings. So far, it's just been down and dirty using only the bclk and the multi with everything else on auto. Oh, except the standard disabled stuff like speedstep, ce1, etc.\\

Good luck

Set your ram and uclk to the lowest multipliers, set your bclk to 174(x23) and bump your IOH up a little bit for the high bclk ~1.15-1.2

Set you Vcore to 1.35 and run IBT for 3 runs on Maximum. Then if it passes this bring down the Vcore until this test cannot be passed.

Edit: what is your cpu cooling solution?

I've decided to end my journey at 3.81Ghz. Thank you all for the advice. One question, my (temp) load peaked at 61C degrees via Core temp. Is this acceptable?
Sometimes I will get the BSOD (blue screen of death) while playing Bad company 2.

Hey guys. The IntelBurnTest isn't reliable huh? I keep getting the damn blue screen of death when playing BC2, so I tested my ram via memtest86. Passed, ran it for 12hrs. However, when I run prime95 (small FFTs). I get the blue screen after 30min or so. The voltages for the test was CPU 1.25v and QPI 1.28v. Forgot to mention, this is for the 3.81Ghz clock.

I've resetted the CPU and QPI voltage to 1.30v. More voltage for the cpu = less chance of crash I presume?

Some input will be appreciated.
