Vanilla? You've lost me...

I would - but I'd run out of money for the crossfire board, I suspect.
(Then again, I might convince my friend to upgrade his graphics setup and either purchase the 5850 I receive for 2x5850 CFX on his x58 board, or get him to sell me his 5850 on the cheap... Not gonna happen though )

Wth why do they offer you £50. You should tell them you paid xxxx amount and you want a card that would be the equivilant of this, so a 5870 or 6870 (because 4890 was the fastest single gpu of 4800s). Take it up with them man. Otherwise just get a 5870, they only stock non-reference ones but you can adjust voltage with Sapphire Trixx utility

Ah. Well the XXX board doesn't have AMD / ATi on the PCI-E connector, so I don't think that one's reference.

As for the stock one? XFX have used a sticker to disguise whether it's reference or not...

But that's two votes for stock now, and only one for the XXX ed.

Is that likely to work? They have me at the slight advantage of it being outside Ebuyer's warrenty, and the fact that I broke it (although I broke it whilst testing it the way they told me to for my original RMA request because I suspected it was a slow ZDFL)...

^This.

If you're going to sell the card, get the 5870 since you'll make more money out of it. If you plan to keep the card, get the 5850 and overclock the crap out of it. Remember you'll get a brand new card with 1 year of warranty.

Also note that you'll have to pay for shipping the 4890 to XFX and the shipping from XFX to home

Generous, but I can't afford a socket 1366 processor to go with it. (At least, not now my graphics card is broken >.< )

They actually gave me £57, but the postage for their new cards is £7.

If they cannot replace for the exact card or another suitable one, they do not have to offer a different option. By law, they can offer a refund which takes into consideration current market value and the fact that you have already used the card for so many months/years.

QFT

Although, it was a dodgy ZDFL - and I broke it whilst testing it on their behalf because it was 20% slower than reference 4890s.
