Suggestions for new PC build

Thread Starter
Quite some time since I posted anything here, so I hope this is the right place for this thread.

Im looking to upgrade my pc soon, by buying a new CPU, CPU cooler, mobo and memory. (Current setup is in my sig)
Since I haven't really been in depth with all the tech news the last few months I might have chosen some parts you might have a better alternative for! This is what i was thinking about buying:

CPU: Intel i7 950
CPU Cooling: Thermalright Venemous X
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R
RAM: Corsair Dominator TR3X6G1600C8D (3x2GB)

Any suggestions, tips etc. are very welcome! Thanks in advance!

actually clock for clock sandy bridge is like only 5% faster than the i7 950 when compared to i7 2600k(sb) and sb does not suport triple channel + i7 950 is at the sweet spot of price to performance ratio.....go with i7 950
and for ur info the sandy bridge is supposed to replace 1156 socket and not the 1366 socket.......

Sandy Bridge is about to hit. Wait until it does, and then revisit the question.

Not only may 1366 parts drop, but we'll have conclusive data on how SB will perform in relation to current processors.

What? He picked out 1600MHz Corsair Dominators with a CL of 7. That's high quality RAM. Better than most in the Ripjaws series.

OP: Your build looks solid.

Thanks for the replies!

I've been looking at GSkill and Mushkin RAM, but Gskill is very hard to get, and Mushkin isn't even available at all in Holland
