Massive Leak Help - URGENT - Page 2

I would remove motherboard, remove components and take a can of compressed air (comppresor) and blow off as much water as possible.

I had a large leak on my 4 way EVGA board and all oveer my 5870's, same thing - careless and the o ring sliped out the groove. Youl'd be amazed how much water can sit under the chips on a motherboard, even if you can't see under them. Try blowing the air from top right corner across to the left, the PCI slots as well will hold a lot of water.

If you use a compressor make sure you check periodically as over use will cause moisture build up inside and shoot a fine mist out the nozzle.

Then wait 24hours and reasmeble. Hope for the best, don't be flustered until you try it after cleaning. Then if (if) it don't work, lesson learned

Edit - Mine worked after spending and 30 mins with the compressor, the system was fully powered. So theres still luck it'll work

Lots of dust is stuff you cannot see.

You fill a bath tub with distilled water, you sit in it. You drop a hot hair-drier in your tub. You'll be dead. Because your skin is covered in ions of salt and dust that you don't see. And those ions you couldn't see took that non-conductive distilled water and made it VERY conducting tap-water in a few seconds.

Also as soon as your coolant was going through your loop, it picked up metal ions off your CPU block and radiator. Your coolant went from non-conductive to at least somewhat conductive.

Hopefully nothing bad happened. As everyone said dry it out good for a long while and hope and see.

I once examined my thumb under a 400X microscope after washing it 4 times with soap and water. It was covered in dirt and sand which I could not get off.

When I sprung multiple leaks and the water got everywhere (mind you, my system was powered off, only the pump was running) I just took everything apart, let it all dry in a well ventilated area for a week, and put it back together and everything's been running perfect to this day.

As a quick side note, I'd recommend ditching your expensive coolant and purchasing a gallon jug of distilled water at the grocery store for a couple cents. Drop in a silver killcoil or a couple drops of PT Nuke, and it'll be much better than what you have. As Skripka said, the non-conductiveness is crap, as it'll just become re-conductive again within a few days, and the dye will gunk up your loop like crazy.

Distilled water you can buy just about anywhere. I know in the US you can go to any grocery store or pharmacy and buy a gallon jug for 50 cents. You'll have to check where you live.
PT Nuke is sold by Petra's Tech Shop here. The link is for PT Nuke-PHN, which you should use if your loop does not have a dye in it. Use PT Nuke-Cu if you decide to put a dye in as well, but I recommend against it because, once again, it'll gunk up your components.
