i5 2500k or i5 760 rig is better?

Thread Starter
1st POST
My house mate got limited budget $700-$1000.
Needing advice for my housemate new rig:

Below is my choice but I'm still open for advice:

Rig A:
i5 2500k
Asus P8H67-M
2x 2GB Corsair "CMXG2GX3M1A1333C9"
GTX 460
WD 500GB 32MB 7200rpm (raid 0)
Silverstone ST56F / Acbel 750w

Rig B
i5 760
Asus P7H55-M/USB3
2x 2GB Corsair "CMXG2GX3M1A1333C9"
GTX 460
WD 500GB 32MB 7200rpm (raid 0)
Silverstone ST56F / Acbel 750w

What do U guys think?
He wanna get 1TB HDD but I told em that a gaming rig won't use so much storage. Ask em to RAID 0 instead. Which PSU is better?

If need to make any changes then pls advice according as long as it stays within the budget... TY

2nd POST

Thanks guys... Confirms for Sandy Bay already. i5 2400/2500 depending on his budget

Another thing is concerning the VGA. I've always been a fan of Nvidia.
If my housemate prefers ATi then what to get that's almost the same price range, comparing the performance as well surely.
GTX460 = 58xx??? Both uses around 550w 80+ PSU right?

There are alot of cheaper better PSus, you also do not need 760 watts for that system. A good 500 watter will do it.

Oh get the sandybridge one, don't be stupid.

Sandy Bridge for sure.
Some benchmarks by anandtech show the sandy bridge being equal and in a few cases, better then the i7 980x. The i5-2500k can also supposbly hit 5ghz on air, and i have heard a few cases hitting nearly 6ghz on air.

If you can wait for sandy bridge, you should probally get that.

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-2500K+%40+3.30GHz
Looking at this vs the i5 760, I would go with 2500k.
Easily overclockable and a way higher performance. The only thing is price.

2500k was running at 3.30GHz - no wonder the score is better.doh.gif

Sure it is... How many percent?
I know the clocks are higher.
Even so, the 760 couldn't compare to overclocking capabilities. 2500k would win either way.
