FPS In WoW - Page 8

WOW is a pretty CPU intensive game, and the lower your resolution is set, the more CPU bound it becomes. Increasing your screen resolution by using a larger monitor should help your frame rates out, however you shouldnt be seeing 30fps at low settings on your rig, thats just insane.

My brother was having an issue with 8800gt when Cata launched, he had been running ultra, and then had all settings locked on him, he couldnt adjust beyond low settings. We tried everything, including the Gx lines in the config file. The only thing that fixed it was updating the drivers to the current drivers from the Nvidia site. You might want to give that a try first if you havent done so already.

Sweep them, try 258's.

Just fired up wow, Taxing one core at 85+% 2nd at 70+% all rest of my cores are at 15-20%. Not well coded, but its taking small advantage of more than 2 cores.

I'll give you that, It did improve frames overall, my benchmarks were all screwed and metro didnt work. My system would freeze every 5 to 10min with your drivers that were linked to your google account. Even after driver sweeper and many other drivers.. It was fubard, cuz of the 265..

OP: Run driver sweeper, and give the 258's driver a run.
The point about the Celeron and 5670 were to note that if a vastly inferior system can run the game at max details with plenty of frames, the possibility that his computer simply needs an OC is ruled out.

And I'm sorry to hear of your issues. It looks like you were unlucky. As I've said, the drivers are quirky, especially obvious when they need to be modded to work. I've only seen improvements in WoW and BC2, so that's all I note them for.

Im guessing its mostly driver related. Trying the 258's wont hurt, and it may fix your problem. The GTX465 should be more than an ample card, and should max out that game with no issues. Especially if an 8800gt can.

No harm done, it affects each and every system differently. I was just unlucky, while it worked i saw improvements in gameplay, and i was able to run 3dmark11 with sli.
