Newegg a good way to upgrade your cell phone plan? - Page 4

Sorry I can't answer many questions about smartphones as I've only used my friends smartphones. Just thought i'd show you what phone i'm getting in a month.
http://www.virginmobileusa.com/cell-...intrcpt-122110

The phone is a mid range andriod that may seem expensive but i'm buying it for the plan, gotta love 25 bucks a month. Just to let you know my current plan is 15 bucks a month, lol. Just giving you some more options.

Pretty much like gadgets on your Windows 7 desktop, but on your Android screens. They're more useful than the Windows 7 ones though lol. You can have your emails show up on your home screen with a preview of who its from and subject etc. Its pretty nice. SO instead of opening up the entire app, you can just quick reply.

Verizon has the HTC Thunderbolt and the Samsung SCH-i520 coming sometime this year. The reason why these are worth noting is that they're Verizon's first 4G smartphones.

Don't forget the LG Optimus 2X, although I honestly can't see the advantages in having a dual core phone.

I think we should also start seeing some higher resolution phones in the 4"+ category. With the Galaxy Tab and other tablets running at 1024x600 I would expect to see some 4.3" phones with the same resolution, so if you want a large phone it might be best to wait.

On a 3.7" it literally won't make any difference though.

It would also be nice to see an AMOLED display that isn't horribly crippled by the pentile matrix.

An 800x480 display with deep blacks that can still display text and doesn't mess up the colors would be amazing. Samsung had just better hope that they do it before some other company comes out with a VA smartphone.

And as for the question, I love my Desire because it's IPS screen rivals the iPhone and we have wonderful developers like AdamG who brought us a fully working Gingerbread rom before even the Galaxy S.

Not to nitpick or anything, but... as opposed to figuratively won't make any difference? :O

I love my BB Torch. Dropped it a few times and it has no phone protector or screen protector and shows no signs of being dropped. Awesome stuff

I liked the new win7 phone too, girlfriends cousin has it and its pretty sweet.

I don't like apple myself, for many reasons, but lets not go there.

Depending on what you plan on doing with it you could look at the cheaper smartphones, or just make sure you get one of those awesome deals where you get the phone free with the plan or whatnot. I say the phone is worse paying out for if you get a great plan with it. If you get a phone for free but pay 30$/month more than you wanted, then it's not a good deal.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll definitely check those phones out.

And thanks to everyone else for helping me form a more complete picture of smartphones, My AT&T plan is out of contract at the moment so I can upgrade to a nicer phone for free or drop the service so I'll definitely keep your suggestions in mind. I'm going to lookup my upgrade options and post the ones I'm considering.
---

Has anyone gone through newegg to do a upgraded cell phone plan???

They give me a big list of phones I can upgrade to for free but it doesn't say I need a data plan explicitly, which I know is incorrect since ATT insists I do, so I'm worried upgrading my plan through Newegg is going to cause problems. On the flip side though getting a phone through the local dealer could turn disastrous if they don't have any good ones.

Any experiences going through newegg?

Wireless hotspot while not paying the monthly fee for the service through your carrier is theft of service. I wouldn't advertise that as a feature as it's not legitimate. It's like saying DVD-R's are great because you can bootleg movies with them.

On another note I'm An Android guy as well, I'm sporting the HTC Evo, Also rooted. With the droid OS you are able to install just any app you want so long as it's compatible with you android v. and your hardware specs.

Android is the only one with a market with a return policy (regretful that it has recently been decreased from 24hours to 15 minutes)

You can install custom roms and Kernels so long as they are available for your device. I have been able to increase my battery life from about 18 hours with the stock battery to roughly 36 with a modified kernel.

As for Palm, BlackBerry, And the Iphone market I can't say anything b/c I've never used them.
