Bioshock Crashing

Thread Starter
I've searched all around and can't seem to find an answer to this. I recently purchased Bioshock on steam and play for about 30-60 minutes until the game crashes. I am using Windows 7, Bioshock v 1.1, and have the latest drivers for my GTX260.

Any ideas?

Crashing to desktop or crashing completely?
Check your temperatures, try rolling back the drivers

That's the thing, this is the only game that does it and I wouldn't think Bioshock is that demanding of a game.

I know it's a pain in the ass, but is your GPU oc'd? Drop all clocks to stock and try playing and see if it crashes. If it doesn't, there's the answer to your question.

GPU is stock from EVGA. Maybe I'll up the fan speed on the GPU and see if it makes a diff.

Strange... it seems to run more stable with my GPU fan set at 100% and all the graphics set to min. I can play Crisis cranked up all day but Bioshock gives it issues? The graphics and my set up must not be jiving. Still will crash rarely on certain animations (me using lightning or a big daddy doing the ground pound thing) but at worst it crashes to windows now, not the whole machine.

...That's odd. How is it running benchmarks?

All that is fine... Now that I finally finished Bioshock 1, I started 2 last night and had now issues with that maxed out either. Must be some optimization issues with Windows 7 for Bioshock 1.
