[Believe3D] 3D TV among the biggest tech failures in 2010 - Page 4

What sad is 3d movies at the cinema today, still look like Jaws did in the 70's in 3d. And just like back then, its not catching on. Though Jackass 3d was a pretty funny movie.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I spent 4K for Lasik so I wouldn't HAVE to wear glasses to watch TV, use a computer, or go to the movies. Why in the hell would I want to spend 4K on a TV just to have to wear glasses to watch it again?

Not all TV's are compatible, one set of glasses doesn't work on another TV. Not everything is broadcast in 3D (Thank God).

The only movie I've seen in the last two years in 3D was Tron, and to be honest, it's been the only movie I've liked in 3D, ever. It wasn't so in-your-face 3D as some of these movies try to be.

2D will rule for the next 5-10 years. Maybe longer.

Cost is why people didn't adopt it yet, if it was cheap and and only a little bit more and you could watch stuff in 3D at home? Who wouldn't go for this?

I don't think glasses is so much of a problem. Sure, I have glasses, and glasses over glasses is such a ridiculous idea. It's something I hear from my friends all the time. Vancouver is very asian dominant, and we've all got genetically inferior eyes. But despite all their complaints, they are more than happy to follow me into a 3D IMAX movie.

The REAL problem is active shutter glasses. The fact that there are only 2 in a set and they are hella expensive? That's the real problem.
If they were cheap and abundant and passive like a proper movie theater set, then yep, then there would be higher adoption.

Who's going to have a movie night with their friends and family and watch the latest blockbuster or kid's movie in 3D when there are only 2 sets of glasses to go around?

I hope 3D takes off soon.

Only because the success of 3D means the onset of 120Hz panels, and that's nothing but a good thing in my book.

3d is a stupid gimmick that fails to catch on every 10 years or so.
Who didnt see that coming. 3d is a gimmick period. Until they can do it with no glasses and it works for everyone it will be just that. I like to go to movies with my friends and sometime even they complain its not working or that it looks wrong. Everyones eyes work different and theres no one trick to make it compatible for all viewers. It also totally destroys image quality.

3d will be cool when they make holograms work. Until then lol!

Are you saying that even in your home you are uncomfortable and insecure about how a pair of glasses are going to look on you? No one asked you to go the mall in them.

Amazingly enough, the site which is cited as the source, is actually listed among the top tech failures.

8. Content farms

Creating click-bait junk on the internet didn't start in 2010. But it certainly took off in a big way.

Demand Media, Aol's Seed and Associated Content, bought this year by Yahoo!, operate on a similar "content farm" model: They choose topics people are searching for on the internet, pay a "journalist" a tiny amount to write something -- anything -- about it, then slap it on the Web so people will click on it.
