very low PPD on P6701? please help diagnose

Thread Starter
not sure if there's a problem... it'll do like 4k PPD when im gaming/using the computer, and ~7k at idle.. i think i should be getting around 10k (?)

cpu is at 4.2ghz.. i even bumped the vcore up cus i thought it might be unstable... but still no change in ppd.. i tried 4ghz too and ppd was even lower

does PPD vary between different P6701's? or what's wrong with my setup..?

edit:
solved.. looking better w/ -smp 5

I know that 6701 and 6702 are TERRIBLE WUs. Not sure what PPD you should be getting from them though.

yeah im doing some searches on p6701 right now and it does seem terrible... but ive seen people with 4ghz X6 get around 9-10k just wondering if anythings wrong with mine
post #4 of 38
you have for sure a lot faster 1090T than me,mine is at 3.74.
just got an 6701 and it has a tpf at 10:14 and ppd at 7681.32 (just started).
it is dedicated though, that helps a little.

wonder how your other settings is,on my ddr2 system I have ht at 2 ghz and nb at 2.6 and some, don´t have the exact figure in my head.
also run with -smp 6 and have two gts 450 in there running.
something for sure is fishy, should get more ppd at 4 ghz.

btw on none 67xx,I get around 11k,a little below,or a little above with different wu´s.
edit: I have nocpulock=1 on mine.

hmm my nb is at 3ghz and ddr3 at 1600mhz

what does -smp 6 do? i have it as just -smp right now

at first i thought it's because my system isn't stable.. but ive set my voltages a bit higher than normal and still same PPD problem
post #6 of 38
easy to check with taskmanager if all your 6 cores running at 100%,
nocpulock=1 might help if you haven´t,not sure but it works for me.

edit:btw -smp 6,I have different shortcuts, sometimes I want to run with less load,so I have shortcuts for -smp 5 etc, mostly to keep me organized.

Try -smp 5 so you leave 1 core for the GPU client, the Fermi cards tend need a bit of CPU usage.
Or you can also set priority high on the a3 core in task manager and see if that improves your TPF.

Pretty much the P6701's suck ppd wise.I am pulling 10k right now on my I7.When it gets 17k+ on other smp WU's.Pretty much let it run and hope your next one is a better WU.The more you stop the client or use the cpu the lower the ppd is.All my rigs fold and are used daily. It hurts ppd a bit.
