However, a hexacore AMD is merely 20 GFLOPS faster than an Intel equivalent priced clock for clock regardless.

I think you should wait out and see what sandy bridge offers. It is suppose to be very soon. Out of all honesty, I'm horrifically not impressed with the drivers of an AMD rig mixed with an AMD/ATI graphics card. I've had nothing but problems with Raid, etc., which is something you might want to consider if you ever go that route.

I'd say wait for sand-bridge and if it performs well pair it with twin 6850s or a 6950/GTX570/slied GTX460s. If the performance is not all the impressive, grab a good sale on some i7 parts.
but will the cpu blend? LOL

Another question, is anti-static equipment really necessary?
nah,all u do is just plug in ur power supply and while ur building keep touching it every few minutes and it keeps u grounded, then when its time to put it in ur comp just unplug it and in ur case it go's (thats part was pretty obvious lulz)

For exactly the same price after promo code you get better 1600 9-9-9 1.5V settings and better heatspreaders.

And uglier heat spreaders Off-topic, but I thought DDR3 ran cool enough that they don't really need them. Unless your overclocking I guess. I'd rather have heat spreaders anyways.\\\\
