windows optimizers

Thread Starter
Hi.

I've just bought an OCZ Vertex 2 120Gb and have been tweaking it for the past 2 days. I've been reading dozens of threads and articles on the net about TRIM, SuperFetch, Indexing and a lot other stuff that I never knew about.

Then discovered the SSD Tweak from an OCZ forum user and with just a simple click of a button, all was done, at least I want to believe that all was done.

Though I disabled the Disk Defragmenter schedule, the SSD drive appears on the defrag list, indicating that Win7 isn't assuming it is an SSD drive
Anyway, being the schedule disabled, only by stupidity would I select the SSD drive to be defragmented.

But the reason I'm writing is about the Windows Optimizers. How safe can they be when dealing with SSD drives?

CCleaner has already generated several discussions surrounding that issue.

I subscribe the Advanced System Optimizer 3 service, that offers a couple of tools optimize registry, system, clean the spyware, update the drivers and have a couple of disk tools that are not, or should not be supported by the SSD drive.

My questions is, what to do?
Apart from the disk tools that should not be used, optimizing the registry, cleaning spyware and all the junk that is downloaded from the internet, can all of this be done without creating "stress" for the SSD?

Can all of these deletions from the SSD helps to diminish it's life expectancy?

It's unbelievable what a SSD drive make us do.
I've lost 2 days installing, reinstalling, reading, exploring, reading a bit more, just to set up something that with the normal HDD it would have take 4 hours

OK, the SSD will help me a lot in my line of work, and I learned a lot this past 2 days, but I feel that things should slow down a bit, the hardware guys should slow down and let the software guys catch up. What is the interest of having an SSD drive if the software can't deal with it correctly, yet?

Sorry for long text, specially when I'm a newbie at this forum

Regards to all

Even if it lists your SSD it won't defrag it but if you aren't using Windows defrag for anything, do what I do and disable the Disk Defragmenter in your Component Services screen.

You're worrying too much about it.

Just use your SSD as you would any drive and forget about it.

Personally I don't use CCleaner because honestly, I have plenty of space to go around and I don't need unneeded deletions on my drive.

Asides that I did nothing but load the newest RST driver when I installed Windows and had them run on RAID via the BIOS. And they're still running just fine.
