Just so everyone knows, once updated to beta 1.3, the new launcher will not connect to minecraft.net. In other words, you won't be able to login. Use the old launcher.

Hey, I don't suppose that, when you go AFK, that you could actually log off so that we can use the beds to get daylight right away without having to wait for someone who is AFK? It's nighttime currently, and I'd really like to make it day again, but there are a few AFK, so I can't

Oh it is? Well then my name is "kirmie" I believer. Rather than "Kirmie". I didn't post the name because you said you would assume that the name we use is the same as on OCN and I thought it wouldn't be case sensitive. I had car problems last night so I didn't have a chance to get on. Oddly enough the problems solved themselves.

Edit: By the way, what program did you use for the map above? I messed with a couple mappers but one made some pictures that I found annoying because after 30 seconds of trying Windows 7 wouldn't display the png files for view inside the folder. The other I tried gives away mineral location which feels like cheating to me so I found it annoying. Is the spawn point by the big city type structure? I haven't played multiplayer at all but I'm assuming everybody uses the same spawn point.

It's cool, I added both just to be safe. The map was generated by the Cartographer, which no longer works for the new world save format. There is a new version called Cartograph G that works with the new worlds, but it's for windows only. Here is a page that lists the various mapping tools. Yes, the spawn is in the city.

That's actually the page I tried some out from. Tried Minutor which was OK for a very quick high level overhead shot but not much else. Then I tried Tectonicus which gave a whole bunch of pictures instead of one big one so you have to keep paging through which was annoying. So then I tried the X-ray which finally allowed detail but was more like moving your guy around with clipping off and it highlighted minerals which was way too much like cheating to me. It took me forever to get Tectonicus working and finishing a run so I gave up after that. I probably just need to get Google Maps to work it for me but at that point I gave up and it was late. That's what I get for putting more time into trying to get a 2D overhead map of the game I'm playing so I can see how big my quarry looks rather than playing the actual game.

Cool city. One of the hub lines doesn't seem to work for me though. I get like one or two blocks from the top level of the line and the cart runs out of momentum. Could just be that this was the first time I've used carts.

Right now I've got a mine going to build up some resources just outside the city though it shouldn't be visible from a top down view so kudos to anybody who finds it. I'm trying my best to not mess with anybody's stuff in a way that will effect it and I will probably end up building a city home around the sand/lake in the map before doing a secondary type thing further out. I found it kind of funny that I dug out a 20x20x8 area plus the stairs down and I found no coal at all but I have over 200 red dust.

If you want me to add or change a sign in the welcome center with my info let me know what and where.

Edit: I have a mob and tree farm running in my temporary home, added some signs, and made accessing it easier. The temp home is south of the sand with a small lake in it where there is an upside down T intersection in the rail system. As the signs say feel free to cut down trees as long as you replant them and go nuts with the mob drops since they will probably just disappear after a while if not collect. There is a viewing are nearby if you feel like watching the results of mob meets lava.

I will probably start building a more permanent setup later tonight.

Edit 2: Figured out what I will be building. The problem is that it will be 189 blocks long and 156 blocks wide so I have to see if it fits where I'm planning to build without getting in anybody's way. Hopefully it does because I require sand. Bring your swords! In like a few weeks because this thing will be massive. If you would like to donate stone then drop some by in my temp house for now. I will be setting up a furnace and storage room when I find the place to build this because I plan on using smooth stone and I will need over 500 stacks.

Edit 3: What I'm building is the colosseum at 1 to 1. Had to modify it slightly (1 block larger) to fit the arches right after building the first outer row of columns. I will bump the thread when I get pics (if anybody is even paying attention to these edits). The size and outer walls will be as accurate as I can reasonably get but I the underneath will be its own demon because I plan on trying to make it so that I can pop in mobs. I will be looking into a type of mob separator to use so I can open an iron door remotely to allow a specific type out. Basically I plan on it being the colosseum if it was already there and modified for use by the Minecraft civilians.

Hopefully they add some changes soon to allow retractable wool curtains or something so I can create a ceiling to let zombies and skeletons in the arena during the day. Or at least let portals to the nether exist to get different rock types. A way to flood things with non-moving water (like opening a hole to a lake or something) will be added as well so it can be flooded automatically if needed.
