These chips are disappointing a bit for me and i'll be upgrading in a month to a 2500k.
I'm excited for the High Overclocks, just not the speed jumps.

Obviously more testing and results need to be done on the clock speed jumping, but i'll see. If it makes no difference i'll shut up, but i'm sure allot around here notice the overclock differences just when opening programs, starting windows, clocking through files etc on their constant overclocks of a 775/1156/1366
Anyone think a Motherboard company might figure out a bios option to keep the overclock constant if desired ? I wonder if thats possible

I want a Constant overclock for EVERYTHING I do. I really wish there were an option to do so. I don't want the cpu to make a decision FOR ME, when it decides that it wont use the other 2ghz potential for regular tasks or programs that i would like sped up.

If i'm multitasking like an Rtard, i want everything i'm clicking on to be at maximum response times. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

I hear you. To clarify, I wasn't claiming that overclocking is detrimental to CPU life, I was only stating that there IS a debate on that topic. Honestly I think it's impossible to tell for sure. If your CPU dies after being overclocked to 4.0GHz totally stable for 3 years, there's no way you'll ever know if it would have lasted any more than that if you hadn't overclocked it. I as well had my E8400 high up, actually 4.2GHz, and I think at about the same voltage you're saying. Mine didn't even die, I just wanted to get a Q6600. This thread on XS shows someone getting 4.5GHz at 1.36v, a mark that I'd be very happy with myself. This person is water cooling it though, and claims its temperature doesn't go over 47C with Vantage. On air, we can estimate this to get about 60C?

True True, i definitely see what your sayin didn't mean to jump on you like that, had a bit of a sore spot for that debate haha. 60 isn't that bad of a temp, but it might be high for these cpu's idk yet. Very good observation that 3 years OC'd or stock could actually be the same lifespan, especially regular hardware failure and not the OC.(Coincidence if you will at times) Obviously there is a method and super high volts can and does kill things. My e8400 was about same speed (actually 4.1 ) for a long time, just figured wouldn't need it much after this upgrade or for just 300mhz. Voltage was high though but it stayed cool at 57 max load. Anyway i'm rambling off topic

Whats the VID range of these CPUs? Also you knows because you OC the Turbo it can do that high. BLCK overclock puts much more stress in all other parts.
