GPU-Z 0.4.9 does that as the card isn't supported by it. 0.5.0 is the one that works

Wouldn't worry about it.
If the card doesn't display anything at all, pretty sure they aren't going to pull what's on the BIOS. In all likelyhood they would switch to the failsafe, see it still doesn't boot, and call it toasted. Some other part of the card failed not in relation to simply using the extra shaders.

Even if it artifacts you should be able to flash back to stock.

It wouldn't be a stretch to assume that the 40nm process is very mature for them. They've been using it since the HD4770 lol

Received mine yesterday, read tech power up's thread a week before attempting this but no success yet.

1)Attempted atiwinflash and receive 2 errors either 'cannot unlock Rom' or 'same bios...'

2)Attempted tech-up's CDM route, didn't work (bios flash progress bar reaches approx 30% then disappears and nothing happens)

3)Attempted different CMD route by BEERS, same 30% progress then disappears

any ideas?

1, What setting are you flashing on the switch, 1 or 2?

2, Where did you buy this card, and was it out of stock and re-filled when you received it?

Hi tsm106 thanks for replying,

Placed order through NCIX Jan 3rd, received Jan 10th...this card was not out of stock at time of online purchase but went out of stock 2 times in that span.

Card is in the #1 position when i've tried the 2 tech-up methods and BEERS' (i even said the hell with it i'll try #2, says 'same bios')

Sapphire bios 6970 used, even tried ATI, XFX. 10.12 drivers installed, even uninstalled.

Perhaps I have received the first batch of locked 6950s?

4) navigate to the folder by issuing: cd atiwf

5) Now issue your command for unlocking the ROM, and then the one for flashing.
If you followed this exactly and definitely got the commands right then maybe you have got a card that can't be unlocked because this method is guaranteed to work

I'm running into the exact same problem. My board is a Visiontek 6950, was last in stock when I picked it up from Micro Center this past weekend. Bios switch on the card makes no difference, WinATIFlash cannot unlock bios through gui, cmd line brings up status bar that disappears. Atiflash through usb flash drive does not work.

Do we have the newer, locked down 6950's? If I can't even unlock the bios on the card to flash, then what's the point in having dual bios to begin with?

Came back right away to tell tw33k and tsm106 that it just worked!

So case closed for me, thanks for your support as i am more of a hardware tech guy, had i been a prog guy i would have known from the start, and to conclude quickly: to succeed through CMD the 1 winflash folder on the desktop must have ALL the files in it, NOT the folder downloaded from tech-up in A created WINFLASH FOLDER.

Trial and error also helped as the command line "atiwinflash -unlockrom 0" never worked for me so i used "atiwinflash -unlock rom 0" --> unlock (space) rom (space) 0

good luck solobo!

Hmm, that's strange. I'd imagine that retail channel like MC would not have the lastest batch (assuming they sell slower than Amazon, etc). Technically you should be able to write to switch 1 on the bios... that is if the bios on the card and the bios you're writing match?

Either there's a mistake somewhere in your process or the bios on the card doesn't match the bios family you want to write to it? Maybe try comparing your pcb with the fan off versus the original pcb? They changed the voltage control, so maybe that will be a telling clue?

I'd double check your process, put all the flash files in the same folder following this post.
