The i7 isn't "obsolete"..I don't know why anyone would say that..confused.gif

I donno whats with these SB guys... They must be compareing a 5ghz 2600k to a stock clock 980x.

SB is 2-4% then a 4 core 9xx that is it.. Please stop with all these 1366 vs SB threads there getting annoying! sozo.gif

And most of the benches 2600k vs 950 are a 950 @ 3.04 and a 2600k at 3.4ghz.

It's all about personal preference. If you really like getting the highest cpu clocks, it looks like sandy bridge is the way to go for you. But in these times some people don't have the cash or time to sell their parts and buy new parts/ go buy a new mobo /cpu thus the reason to say ah its a downgrade. It will not be a downgrade. What sense would that make??

lol - wait until programs start to use the new instruction sets.

Um I thought it was to replace the 1156 and not the 1366..since I am guessing Ivy Bridge is doing that..

Last time I check Sandy is lower end compared to Ivy. I would think it would be 1156,SB,1366,IB

Wow.. This is yet another thread of clicheness

But I believe all the high-end i7's will be more powerful than Sandy Bridge

So you are comparing a 3.4GHz chip against a lower clock chip and not really doing a task that really stresses out the CPU..awesome. And why is it that the 2500K beats the 2600K..

IB will be on 1155, there is no separation between the two sockets when it comes to the 22nm die shrink.

It's impossible that 1155 is gonna be better than the 1136.

If you're comparing the i7 930 with i5 2600k then they'll meet up. i7 980x is gonna slap any Sandy Bay in de face. Intel is an international company. They do kill their own products... Cents & Dollars tells the stories...

Perhaps Sandy Bay makes things easier for user. OC i7 right & surely it'll out do the i5...
Lucky thing is that we've got OCN forumers
