Its going to be like LGA 775 again, and the 1356 motherboards will be like the LGA 771 Skulltrail, only for the niche extreme high end market.
I really hope not

this gives me hope though

Then I got the 470's and they greatly outperformed the 295.

Here is a comparison I was able to make between running the 470's on my i5 system then running the same cards and clocks on the R3F and i7-950:

http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/8737...-i7-vs-i5.html

SB is very impressive I must say, I am wanting to see them with SLI vantage results.

I'd just like to point out your gpu score is lower on the x58 benchmark.

Also it's been show that HT gives a large boost to the i7 in vantage - a boost that doesn't show up and is often a negative hit on performance when HT is turned on in real games.

You'll notice in many games the i5 on SB with a lower clock speed beats the i7 SB in several games.

According to this, yes they OC higher but the 1366 i7's still out preform it.

I guess I had the wrong understanding of these chips, the CPU/GPU in one didn't make since to me in the first place.
I see it as a plus for laptops, but for desktops it just makes scene that one of these 1155 chips having both CPU & GPU would not out preform two separate dedicated processors.

simple choice upgrade to 1155. if youre going to be mainly gaming pick the i5-2500k cpu since games dont benefit from hyper threading. if youre going to be rendering, encoding, or use programs that will take advantage of hyper threading go with the i7-2600k

depending on if you want to run a multi gpu setup determines the board you should get.

single gpu (still support crossfire)
asus p8p67
gigabyte p67a-ud3p
biostar tp67xe (supports sli also, but it's $141 shipped so i placed it here)

multi gpu (supports sli/crossfire)
asus p8p67 pro
gigabyte p67a-ud4
msi p67a-gd55 or p67a-gd65
biostar tp67xe

pair it up w/ some decent pc3-1600 ram and you got yourself a great build

Don't worry about getting a board with x16 x16 using the NF200 chip though because you are not gonna see any real performance improvements with this setup.

If you want SLI make sure the board advertises that it can do SLI. If you want CFX any board should be fine as long as it has at least two PCI-E slots in x8 x8.
