If you want SLI make sure the board advertises that it can do SLI. If you want CFX any board should be fine as long as it has at least two PCI-E slots in x8 x8.
none of the boards i listed have x16x16, listed em cause they were midrange boards that supported both sli/crossfire since there's not a huge difference between x8x8 and x16x16 in terms of performance

It's more of a side step. The only advantage 1336 has that I have seen is dual 16x Ovid lanes. And maybe tripple chan memory, but that last one is nothIng special.

Other than that idk. My 2600k is pretty sick.

There's nothing 1155 can do that 1366 can't. Intel is going to keep making new sockets and forcing people to upgrade, so it's best to stick with what you have until you actually NEED the upgrade.

1155 is skippable in my opinion. Everyone keeps talking about the 5ghz overclocks on air, but what a lot of people don't realize is that you need one of the unlocked CPUs along with a certain chipset in order to do this. With the mainstream boards and CPUs, it's almost impossible to get a decent OC. Intel is trying to make it so you get what you pay for and nothing more.

In all honesty, I'm extremely new to this so take me with a pinch of salt.

As far as alot of people have said and what alot of reviews has said, it's not in the sense an upgrade if you got yourself an I7-970,980 so really no reason to go upgrading there because the performance boost is so low to the comparrison you have already, so better waiting for IVY.

The point of the matter is, the I5-2500K is about £300-£400 cheaper, whilst the performance is pretty much, similar.

So for anyone upgrading, it would be in their new interests to wait for the Maximus IV Extreme or wait for EVGA or Gigabytes versions of their highend 1155 socket board.

Personally I have a 775 Socket and think i'll be going to SB biggrin.gif

So you think a Maximus IV Extreme (£312) will give you a higher multiplier overclock?

Just get a mid to high range mobo that meets your pci requirements.
