Most people think you bought them because you couldn't afford a ferrari or a penis extension.

If I did I'd want it to run faster than a 250.00 cpu.

Many platform upgrades are not 'worth' it, in the sense you will not 'feel' much performance difference in real life. Therefore upgrading from 1366 to 1155 Sandybridge, in this sense is not 'worth' it.

Infact, I will stick with my Socket 775, Q9650@3.83GHz/DDR2 setup for a long time to come. This setup is faster then most Phenom II setups, and in many cases just as fast as mildly/moderate overclocked i7 1366 setups. And I also use SSD for OS, programs and games. And all feels very responsive and lightning fast. And my CPU is not bottlenecking my GTX 570 in any way.

However, had it been 10 years ago I would have upgraded a long time ago. I was a big hardware enthusiast and upgraded all the time. I'm still an enthusiast, just a little older and my priorities are a little different. I can afford a new system, but I think that in my case it's a waste of money. And I would probably not 'feel' any performance difference.

So it all comes down to personal enthusiasm and what each person will use their hard earned money on. I use to say - If it pleases you then go for it!

^ This. Now that I have a kid, I am using this opportunity for one last upgrade before I start saving for more important things. I probably won;t see an upgrade for 5 years so if I do not do it now, I will never do it. Even though my system still holds its own, I feel I can still get some good money for it before it becomes obsolete and worth nothing.
