Replacement or not, it kicks the royal crap out of everything from the i7-950 and downwards while putting up a decent fight against the extremely expensive 6 core CPUs.

Now i quoted you because your yet another person who made that comparison, but i agree with your post as a whole. I just feel the 'Not a replacement for 1366' argument is really irrelevant.
1155 doesn't kick the royal crap out of everything below 1366 950; it beats it by a good margin though, I agree.

The reason people say 1155 isn't a replacement to 1366 is because they are two entirely different platforms, with entirely different goals. The 1155 is a MAINSTREAM socket, 1366 is ENTHUSIAST, enough said. You cannot compare the two because they have different features. When Ivy Bridge is released, it will be a fair comparison to 1366 because they both share several things not present in Sandy Bridge---x16/x16 pipelines, triple channel memory, and so on.

Of course you can compare the two. Tell me what a i7-950 does better than a 2600K

Tripple channel?
2x16 PCI-E without an NF200 chip?

What else?

What else does the 1366 platform provide other than 6 core processors which are extremely expensive?

The fact that 1366 has a stamp on its head saying 'Enthusiast' and 1155 has a stamp on its head saying 'Mainstream' has nothnig to do with the performance offered by the paltforms. And when performance/overclocking is compared 1155 comes out on top with anything from the i7-950 and downwards....

As mentioned earlier if your already on the 1366 platform you don't need to upgrade, but unless your buying the 980x (or need tripple channel memory for some specific task) there really is no reason to buy 1366 now unless you get an awesome deal on the parts. It's that simple.

We're arguing semantics. I'm done with this because there is nothing left to discuss. 1155 is the bargain platform, 1366 isn't. Black and white. Night and day.

Although the 1155 has better performance than most of the chips in 1366, that doesn't mean it's the replacement for it. I'm not hating on your 2600k either; it's a great CPU. I'm only defending the FACT that it isn't a replacement CPU for my 930. Ivy Bridge is the intended replacement for my socket. I will be waiting for that.

No one has said you should move from 1366 to 1155, but everyone is saying there is no point in buying into 1366 now. Which is all that has been said since the start.

If i had a 920/930 i wouldn't upgrade to 1155, but i came from a Q9450.

And your FACT is just silly: Soon people with a QX9770 will argue why the i5-760 is not a good upgrade because it's a mainstream part....

I might also add that fact should relate to what you will buy: I want an enthusiast part - but would you really buy a i7-950 now knowing you coudl get a 2600k for around the price if your an enthusiast??

Oh my, is this still going on?

Every one posting in this thread, me included, unzip your pants. . check the size . . oh yeah. . now, whilst in that state of mind, think to yourself, will buying a new architecture make it grow. . ? erm NO, secondly would it grow if I went from my current 1366 rig. . .? erm, NO!!

So, could everyone just S.T.F.U.!!!

Congrats to all who bought new SB!! By looking at the benchies it rocks, and is solid value for money!! . . why?? AAAAH DUUUUHHH its nearly 2.5 years later, what did you expect intel to do? make a crapier cpu than the i7 1366 socket?

Enjoy your rigs, and please stop making OCN.net about 1366 vs 1155. . lets get back to having "help me with my overclock", or "my gpu failed" fill the recent post link, and not every darn 2nd to 3rd one SB this against 1366 this. . bleh

To make a post about something which can be observe just by going to a leet review site like guru3d.com and clicking on the reviews on the . . .HOME PAGE <-- is just silly

Once again fix yourself guys, breath in and out. .

Its nice outside aint it?

4.8ghz stable on air, 1.35v with HT and decent temps. LOL yeah why upgrade? The only thing I wouldn't have upgraded from is an intel hex core. Everything else is fair game.

Because A LOT of people say "I have sandy bridge, i win big time over your 1366 cpu."

when this isn't true.

once 2011 cpu's come out, then people will have the right to say "i win over your 1366 cpu"

Who really needs 4 cores over 4.5 GHz O_O
It's not really much of a difference, so whichever is "faster" won't outperform by much.
