Maybe sell e6600 and get a q9550 and a new graphics card? Can your board handle a q9550?

if you are gonna make the change from dual to quad, then getting sb or bulldozer would not be a bad idea either.

i thought of purchasing a quad core cpu and put it insted the E6600 but purchasing the cpu and the new GPU will cost me 400$ , not affordable.

Either way i want to buy a new computer i think its about time.... i layed my eye's on core i7 2660k.

$1200 for 4000 points? Next time you go shopping let me know, I'll help you.

Thanks for showing how superior 1155 is though, value to performance, nothing else Intel has can match it.

Edit: We'll call it even if you disable 1 video card, 8 threads, and 2 cores. See what you get then.
Being an ex-AMD fanboi you know all about value for performance don't you lol. Then when i7-950's hit $199 suddenly time to jump ship to the new mainstream socket.

Got a new one for you, P10562 working on the oc on the cards:

lol - are you saying I jumped to the i5-2500k because the 950 dropped to $200? Btw I was never an AMD fanboi, I am and forever will be a price vs performance fanboi. You can spend a lot of money and have the fastest machine, or you can spend a little money, and run it to the edge and have machine that holds its own for 1/4th the price.

I don't have access to a MC, if I did I'd have gone for that over the 1090T, then disabled HT.

I had a really bad itch to go with an i5-750 to be honest, but the multi-threaded capabilities just weren't there.

The i5-2500k caught my eye as I was looking at upgrading to DDR3, if it wasn't for my board dying I'd still be on DDR2 with the 1090T, probably...

Do a real life benchmark with vantage, disable 8 of your threads and 2 of your cores. Then to compare it against mine; disable sli and just run one card.

That will give us a better idea of where both sockets sit in the end.

...
That's just like saying "Disable HT on your 980x and return it to stock clocks, then I can prove that my 920 @ 4ghz is better"
The 1366 socket is faster clock for clock when compared to the 1155. That being said, I have worked with 3 SB CPUs(2x2600k and 1x2500k) and they do overclock better than most of the 1366s ive worked with.

If you have ~3Ghz 980x with 4 cores enabled and a ~3Ghz 2600k with 4 cores enabled, the 980x will be slighly faster, but this is also dependant on the Mobo being used and other components as there is no way to use exactly the same equipment with P67 and X58.

I don't believe that.

Post your your 980x doing cinebench 4 cores 4 threads at 4.4GHz.

Also kiwi we're talking about Vantage and it's relation to gaming - Find me 10 games to bench that use all 6 cores 12 threads.

Ill run the tests @ 3Ghz and post the scores tomorrow. With an underclock we can ensure stability on both processors.

Edit: The boards would be a UD4(only SB build I have left at my house) and Classified3

I thought Sandy Bridge was a 5% increase over the old Core i7 processors? Besides Sandy Bridge's overclock potential Intel Quick Sync looks like it would be worth the upgrade over a Socket 1156/1366 Core i7

Ok, just so we have this right you believe your 980x running 4 cores 4 threads will be clock for clock faster than a SB chip running the same cores/threads at the same speed, yes?
