If you are planning to upgrade to 1155 from 1366, I personally don't think it is worth it, because you are spending money on a new mobo, RAM and CPU just for a possible few hundred MHz extra OC.
This, this so much.

1366 to 1155 is a sidegrade.

All of the 1366 owners are just butthurt that their 3 year old platform is now obsolete.

They are clinging to two things:

1. PCIe lanes, but 1156 managed to match 1366 performance in CF/SLI using the bandwidth equivalent of 4x/4x. SB doubles that, so 3 and 4 card setups should still be viable.

2. Triple channel memory. This was debunked ages ago. It offers no advantage outside of synthetic benchmarks, and its only ~$10-15 more to go with 8GB of ram in dual channel than it is to go 3x2GB.

Intel knows what they are doing. Triple channel memory was a failure, and the excess bandwidth is quite literally useless, so they've been scrapped.

Of course you're showing a comparison with a game that only uses two cores at the most. The 6 core intel processors dominate sandy bridge completely.

2600k wins most of them. now why are you still trying to compare a $1000cpu to a $300 cpu when the $300 one wins in most benches?

It wins most of them because the 6-cores are being RAM bottlenecked by the crappy 1066 7-7-7 RAM that's only running in single channel, while sandy bridge was using proper dual channel 1333 7-7-7. The games listed on there also don't take advantage of all six cores.

In no way can 1366 to 1155 be seen as a side grade, 1155 overclocks really well Les nm (apart from 980X 970 etc) better performance clock for clock use less power what more do you want!!!!

Here are some before and after benchmarks with my old 920 and my 2600K.

It would be the biggest waste of money to move from 1366 to 1155. Sandy Bridge-EX is what's supposed to replace 1366. LGA2088 or something like that.

Then why did Intel decide to have quad channel memory for the upcoming sandy bridge chipset?
