2. Thats why intel are releasing the enthusiast socket 1356 with triple channel

On a bigger note funny all the people jumping on it while they might not even release a 6 or 8 core for 1155 lol
1356 is still primarily a server socket though. You aren't going to see the same support that 1366 had because you'll be spending hundreds of dollars more for almost 0 performance gain. 1366 became popular because 1156 wasn't available. Its going to be like LGA 775 again, and the 1356 motherboards will be like the LGA 771 Skulltrail, only for the niche extreme high end market.

I had 1366 over 2 years now.
It has served me well.

As I game primary, there is a no brainer to get a new MB and a SB and ty to shoot at 5ghz.
1366 is obselete as a gamer plattform.

Its common sense that anything that utilizes 6 cores obviously the i7 970 and i7 980x will be better.

SB for the most part looks like it is the way to go if you dont utilize applications that can utilize more than 4 cores. SB looks like it will be a nice upgrade for some. Still however, Im not sure that replacing a motherboard and CPU is worth it for the speed gains that you get by switching. It certainly is faster, but how much will you actually notice since the i7 setups are blazing fast already.

Im curious to see a lot of your results once you get SB

Kind of OT but when is the X58 replacement coming out? Don't need to upgrade my system right now but when I do, I'd probably go with the top line consumer platform again.

Wait untill ivy bridge 6-8 core 16 thread cpu's are released later this year, Socket 1356 i believe. It will be a monster!! and aimed at the enthusiast.

with your setup there really is no need to upgrade
