strange heating smell???? - Page 3

Well, given adequate ventilation, if its much more than a faint smell, you may want to investigate for physical damage.

And of course, if you see smoke, shut it down!

so now my question is...is it normal for electronic components(in general)to produce some kind of heating smell when they heat up which is characteristic of silicon or something(correct me if im wrong) so smell starts coming after my pc has been on for several hours and when im playing games and this smell is only noticiable when im sitting very close to my pc or if i bring my nose near to the cabinet's opening...on avg at that time my pc temps are like this:

cpu-avg 75 degrees(load)
hdd-avg 42 degrees(load)
graphic card-avg 55 degrees(load)
ambient- avg 26 degrees

and take in to account my cabinet is opened up currently so the smell might be spreading more.....and also this smell is more prominent at the back of the psu...although it does not seem like silicon burning smell(i know difference between burning and heating smell)......
so it this all normal or something is wrong.....please help me out here guys im really worried.....
i have checked physically all components while running and they dont seem to be heating very much(which rules out the possiblity of bad sensors)....
any help would be appreciated....
welll thnx in advance....
it's ozone. it's the smell when ever a electrical component is on
i think i smells nice tbh, i will play scalextric and then sniff the controllers

UPDATE: as i investigated furthur i found that my gtx 460 is heating too much being the twin frozr 2 so i checked with furmark and my graphic card started making a buzz noise which is also not good coz hawks are advertized as buzz free(i double checked that buzz noise is from my gpu and not psu) so furmark showed me max temp of 62 degrees while my freind's hawk gave him 53 degrees reading and when i touched my graphic card at that time it seemed much more hotter than 62 degrees....i know this bcoz i also have a 9600gt and i tried it too it went up to 73 degrees in furmark and i touched and felt how hot it was....but with 62 degrees my gtx 460 felt hotter and it was giving out much smell not burning but still pretty strong smell.....so what could it be...is my gpu defective or dying coz i bought it a month and a half ago........urgent help needed please...

I think it's because you're cooking your computer from the inside out. Get some fans in your case, and get a Hyper 212+ CPU cooler and drop your load temps down before you burn out..

now it seems my gpu is really defective coz while playing just cause 2 for 20 mins my gpu temps as per msi afterburner and gpu-z were 57-58 degrees but when i touched the graphic card it was really hot i almost got my hand burnt...i think the sensors are messed up and the temp indication is not correct....and one of the fans on my hawk also makes some noise like its stucking to something while spinning...+ the buzzing issue so what should i do guys just send it for rma...im afraid coz i have heard they dont test it properly and just try to boot a pc with it and if it boots they say the card is good....can anybody share there rma experience for msi with me........
figured out the graphic card is the one producing the heating smell....

Just FYI, if you touch a heatsink and it is REALLY HOT, thats not always a bad thing. It means that the heat is successfully moving from the chip to the heatsink.
