Can't OC anymore?

Thread Starter
Basically I've had my CPU at 3.6Ghz for low temps for the last year or so. After getting BFBC2, I felt like trying to push 4Ghz (for more frames) one more time and started at 3.8Ghz.

Since the last time I OCed to 3.8Ghz, I:
1) Got 700D and water from Antec 1200 (Northbridge is hotter)
2) Updated from 10.2 Cat drivers to 10.12.

At 3.8Ghz now, the computer doesn't seem to be able to shut down (infinite loop) and I can't boot up properly half the time. It seems to lock up and stall at the RAID BIOS screen where it detects all the SATA devices. Seems to have problem detecting my DVD drive (never happened before).

The thing is, I don't get BSODs. I think I remember reading that BSODs were caused by CPU instability...

Not sure if this is from CPU or NB not having enough voltage.

400 FSB
9.5x Multi
1.344-1.324V CPU in CPUz (1.3v in BIOS)
1.26V NB (1.265 [which is lowest] in BIOS settings)

Temps:
CPU: 53C/50C for the two cores under water (seems high temps for water...)
NB: 50-55C (used to be about 42ish with Antec 1200)
VRM: 50C

I'm having a similar problem

My E6400 has been stable and easily oc'd from 2.13 to 3.2ghz since March of 2007. Now I'm having trouble getting a OC to not restart as soon as the bios screen pops up (see my sig for the thread with pics)

hmm ok are your temps idle or under load?
i would try increasing ur NB v slightly and see if it that makes a difference,
If the cpu is 53c idle then you might have some problems, was it stable with "linX"? or prime95 before?

Those are load temps with Prime 95 with small FFTs.

Ok temps are fine then,
I think it is your NB v,
but if you run linX it will give errors if your NB voltage is to low,
Just try increasing your V a couple of notches.
Also BSOD can be related to memory aswell and well quite a few things not just cpu.

Those aren't bad temps under load. You can always add more fans and radiators to bring them down.

Probably should of given that a try. Found it very strange though, would be stuck at RAID BIOS during boot up and resetting at that point only helped half the time. Other times, it would continually loop the Windows is shutting down screen for 10 minutes when it only takes my computer around 20 seconds or less to shut down.

In fear of having a corrupted RAID array [for the 50th time], I disabled my Write Back Cache which I read from either Ericeod or DuckieHo that it should be turned off during any OCing until stability is found.

I felt they are high for my loops: Dual rad, XSPC Rasa, and 2 med yates. i think I saw like a....6-8c drop over my TRUE.... it was disappointing, was hoping for 10C-12C drop.

I was overclocking one of are systems in the studio to 3.7 (AMD) and I couldn't find the drivers for the tablet we needed to reinstall them but its still seems pretty stable. so im keeping it there
