I have both cases as well (or had, I got rid of the 800D fairly quickly).

The HAF is far cheaper and superior airflow (and I mean superior).

Both are equally apt for water cooling (the 800D perhaps slightly moreso).

I had a pair of GTX470's in the 800D and they nearly cooked. There simply isn't any way to get more air to video cards in the Corsair case. This is the reason the HAF-X comes with a 200mm door fan AND a door duct AND a front 120mm directional bracket for another 120mm fan to blow directly on to gpu's.

From an aesthetics perspective, it's all about personal preference. Frankly I don't spend hours gazing at my cases and could care less what they look like. Performance is what counts here.

I'd take the HAF (again) every time over the 800D. Unless you plan to watercool your gpu's in the 800D, its frankly moderately awful for gpu cooling.

No offence Guys,,, Whoever says 800D is better and performing good in air stock cooling than HAF X ...,should really re-consider their opinion once you run your rig in HAF X...

HAF X really Kicks the ass of 800D in every aspect especially Side door Cables Handling...
I had to cover my right panel door of 800D in that photo for you people to not see Bulge or pop outs near front panel... whereas HAF X handled same cables infact more than now as piece of cake... Front Panel USB slots sucks they don't detect all portable HDD unlike HAF X.....

Still I LOVE 800D ..... Good Boys like BAD GIrls....wheee.gif

800D. Hands down. Did you have the 470s water cooled?

Fair enough, and there's no argument here, the HAF-X is built for airflow. I'm not a fan of it aesthetically, and frankly you can really fix the GPUs with a cheap 200mm fan from PPCs etc if you wanted to, just cut the hole in the window and drop it in, probably ~$30 to make it happen and then you've got the same advantage of the HAF.

if I try to mod the case with a few fans and mod it to send air to the cards will I be able get to the HAF-X performance or at list close ?

should I try to do this or go with HAF-X ?

the 800D just look way better then the HAF-X....

So hang on a sec...

Spend $100 more on the 800D over the HAF-X and then cut a hole in the case and spend $30 more for a door fan to get it on par to the HAF-X in performance?

no I dont want to do any changes like that...

the best thing I can do is put a fan at the bottom of the case where the PSU is it will take air from outside the case and their is a fan above it that send air from the PSU zone into the harware zone... and from their try to put a fan or 2 to send air right to the cards but I dubt it will be better then the HAF X

should I try to do this or go with HAF-X ?

the 800D just look way better then the HAF-X....

As I said above: something like this http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=36_327 or a pair of 120s next to each other over the cards and you're all set. Plus if you don't like them later you can just get a new piece of acrylic and it's like it never even happened... I too prefer the look of the 800D and have modded it to suit my needs while doing my best to keep the stock look as much as possible.
