How do part trades work?

What's normal for trades?

I did a quick search of forum faqs but haven't really found what I'm looking for. I'm not sure what else to ask so I'll give the scenario:

I purpose a trade to a member.
Member would like to think about it but has also never online traded before.
What process or steps should we consider to let each other know we can trust each other? Is there an extension of pay pal or e-bay that does this?!

Just curious and thanks.

Well, if you have ebay, show him your feedback score, that's what I usually do, If I plan on buying/trading on here.

Well, just hope whoever your trading won't scam you.
Basically you both just send each other whatever your wanting to trade.
Hope that it gets to you.

I've done a few trades (not on this forum) and here is what I can suggest:
  • Show proof that the item is in your possession - picture with your username and date helps.
  • Establish shipping rules - who ships first or both together.
  • If it is a expensive item, insure it. To prevent fraud, pay extra for signature confirmation.
  • Never feel bad for asking too many questions - the more the better.

just make a thread with what you wanna trade and what you are looking for and only trade with people with a good reputation around here.

Thanks everybody. Sadly i'm brand new to ebay as well so I don't really have a rating anywhere. Also, it's not on this forum so I can't compare reputations.

This seems like good advice SimpleTech! Thanks!
