[NBN]Hands on: 11.6″ MSI U270 Running AMD’s Zacate - Page 3

Pretty excited about these. If not MSI, well, the past says the netbook market will have 40 different model numbers for an almost identical laptop from various manufacturers. Here's hoping for an 11.6" 6 cell, 2Gb ram, 160GB HDD, decent keyboard, and NO GLOSS, for $400.

Even better - a full 12" screen, at least 3GB of ram - hardrive, who cares, since they are so cheap (so long as the BIOS doesn't have some brain damaged limitation). I definitely agree on the battery, keyboard - and please, a matte screen so that people can use them where ever, like at hotspots, without the massive problems with glare.

I'd want to see a decent clock speed, and at least two cores - then the machine could run real software offerings, rather than crippled software on top of crippled OSes...

(I'd still love to have one though)
I compared the prices, the 3820TG cost $600-$900, a M11x cost $700 for a C2D and $949 with a Core i5 520UM and $1100 for a Core i7 620UM but the hinge issue cripples the M11x. If the hinge issue gets fixed in revision 3 your paying the extra for a better graphics card but losing DX11 support.

Like the guy in the video said it's to glossy... but the keys are nicely spaced apart.

No, Athlon II is much faster.

Reviews for Zacate E-350 (1.6GHz dual core) are already out. You probably never checked any of them.

Here is a review from anandtech
http://www.anandtech.com/show/4023/t...-benchmarked/3

Even Athlon X2 3250e 1.5GHz is overall faster than Zacate 1.6GHz in most cases. We are talking about old K8 processor, not Athlon II which is a K10 processor

And Zacate GPU doesn't perform as good as HD5450 in gaming benchmarks

I agree. I mainly said 160gb since it's cheap. As for 3Gb of ram, eh. I rarely run out of 1Gb of ram on my netbook. It helps when windows isn't taking almost 900Mb on boot Even a full desktop linux OS works beautifully on this.

As for the matte screen, 1000% agree. Not sure if you've seen this: http://www.overclock.net/hardware-ne...l#post11882474

Looks perfect for me. Better than this MSI one it looks like. That thing is all matte looks like.
