Get a knife and wedge it in there. I just had to do this with a mobo I sold. That stuff was like concrete after it sat for a while. Definitely won't use it again.
Just peel it off VERY slowly, I had to do the same thing when I RMA'd my mobo. Just take your time and it will come off. You have to pull pretty hard but dont worry you wont brake the bracket.

Pull hard, use a hairdryer. The backplate didn't break but some glue stayed behind
Yeah, use a hair dryer to soften the glue and everything and pull on it. I used to use the sticky stuff but now i don't even use it when mounting my h50 anymore.
I am not bothering to remove glue (its dangerous ) Im pretty sure he will accept it coz im selling it with 3gb of ram for just $40. and if he doesnt want it ill find someone else(anyone in in NYC want it?) lga775 micro, 3gb ram ddr2?
I had that same problem with my Baram cooler, that flippin' adhesive was like concrete. Some "gentle" pressure and lot's of patience got it off no problem, a little adhesive was left behind but it came off eventually.
same thing happened to me...it was a pain to come off...actually my issue was the backplate came off fine, but the sticky tape or whatever they use to secure it to the back of the mobo was left behind a bit so i just peeled it off
like others said, a hairdryer should work fine for that to soften it up
Use a hairdryer and a credit card. Knives and razor blades are too much of a risk imo. Never use the tape ever for a backplate. Too much of a hassle.
