I dont know. The current gap between AMD's current offerings and the 1155 i dont see them catching up besides on highly threaded apps, which there are few of these days.

After reading about the Sandybridge speculation I sure would like to see AMD challenge Intel, it would only be better for everybody, AMD fans will get to be top dog for a bit and Intel will work hard to meet Bulldozer or surpass, it. Competition is the core of innovation.

True. Looking at the Sandy Bridge line-up, it looks like they've been intentionally gimped since Intel doesn't really have any competition (aside from their older chips). The Phenom II X6 bested the i5-2500K in some heavily multi-threaded tasks, otherwise, the top of the charts are all Intel (Sandy Bridge, Gulftown, Bloomfield, Lynnfield).

Yes these are mainstream chips. However, there's a lot of performance headroom. If AMD had a competitive product, these chips would be probably be released with at least higher stock clocks. As it is, they're being throttled so as not to overshadow X58.

Im actually really interested to see what amd brings to the table especially with the new way there redoing the cores (psudo hyperthreading) i think that it will be close. I have a feeling that amd has something up there sleeve or else why call it buldozer!

I think it'd be awesome. I've been intel for a long time but i'm no fanboy...if they could pull of something awesome...A. it'd be a HUGE story...B. intel would have some pressure to making competitive prices...C. we'd have more to talk about on the forums rather than 1366 vs 1155 which ones better haha.
