Thin strip about 1/4" wide and a few inches long (4"-6"). Twist it into a coil around a marks-a-lot or some other type of larger marker (something cylindrical that's about 3/4" diameter). After you have it in coil form, drop it in your res.

Can you just ask for a length of silver wire and bend it into a spring shape that just fits inside a piece of tubing?

10% acetonitrile in the water to stops any growth. Its nasty stuff but nothing grows in it!

Cyanide. (Well, a kind of)

Well, the wire shouldn't be that thick, so it shouldn't restrict the flow by a lot.

wouldnt it be better to put the silver in my pump res combo coz it doesnt restrict the flow?

Either works, it shouldn't restrict flow as it would be touching the inside walls of the tubing.

I have never had any type of anything growing in my loop.

Please don't take this as me trying to convince everyone that you don't need biocide, it's necessary for some people, but if you keep a good sealed loop and don't allow a crap ton of sunlight to enter it, it will stay clean.

Quit with the "zomg no biocide!? FAILZORZ!!!!" till you try it yourself. Or maybe my loop is just staying clean with the power of thought.

I'm not gonna pull out the L33t Failzorz, BUT the only thing I have running through my head while reading this post is 'why take the chance?' It's 6 dollars for killcoils?
