Help me calculate my temp? (core unlocked)

Thread Starter
Hi fellow members of the OC. I have ran Prime95 and in max full burn I got up to 36 degrees C in HW Monitor (core temp). I'm running on 2 cores (factory setting). When I unlock all 4 cores how much is the temperature going to raise?

As long as you didnt increase voltage to some ungodly level, your Temp will stay the same, maybe 1-3 degrees warmer.

Core temps for phenom II are useless.

If you're using HWMonitor, take into consideration the CPU temp (usually the CPUTIN or TMPIN1/TMPIN0), not the core temps as phenom II thermal sensors seem to have problem and the CPU socket temp would be more accurate.

If you're not sure what you should look at, I'd suggest you download Speedfan (CPU temp & core temps will be shown clearly).

And yes, unlocking cores will make it hotter since it needs more voltage for stability.

The TMPIN0 in HWMonitor is in accordance with the reading shown in my MSI utility so it's got to be accurate. I'll rely on that then. Word says if you take the socket readong minus 5 degress that should give you the core temp.

And I can't believe you're getting 3.6ghz on an X6 with just 1.35v. The factory clock must've been plenty high already, or it's a good design.

Well I've not heard of the "minus 5 degrees" thing before, and I would not care about core temps, either. I've contacted AMD tech support and they have confirmed that CPU temp or the socket temp is really what matters for phenom II (62C limit).

Btw, my 1055t came stock at 2.8Ghz/1.325v and it's made to be running with 6 cores. Your 560 is a chip made to be running with 2 cores, and it surely needs more voltage if you unlock its hidden cores. So there's really nothing surprising about my 1055t OC.
