Well it's been a few days, but I've been busy with life/work, etc. Now that I have some free time, I'm decided that I wanted to get a new, more updated motherboard, so I just ordered one on NewEgg - MSI 870A-G54. I know it's not top of the line, but for the price, I thought it was a reasonable upgrade. I don't have the money to drop hundreds on a motherboard, so this is fine.

Hopefully it'll be here in the few days that I have off this week. As of now, I put in the power supply, hard drives, and DVD drive, so I'll be ready to go and pop in the motherboard, connect a few cables, and give it a test.

After that, I'm going to try some watercooling. I'm still undecided on whether I want to cut a window into the side of the case or not. Updates with pics later

The status on the motherboard is that it's supposed to be here tomorrow! As always, extremely fast shipping from NewEgg

On the update side of things, I installed the DVD drive, the hard drives, and the PSU. I also decided to paint the PCI slot covers since leaving them silver made it look ugly. Until the motherboard gets here, there's really not much else I can do. I don't want to start cable management just yet so I can figure out where to route the main power connector and such, then I'll probably ziptie the cables to the notches in the back of the case. Here's some pics to enjoy:

PSU Installed:

Painted PCI Slot Covers:

PCI Slot Covers Installed (I was going to paint the thumbscrews black, but I think they look pretty cool silver):

Installing the Hard Drives:

All Hard Drives Installed, front-side view of the drive bays:

Last but not least, a macro shot of the DVD drive lol:

Hope you like it so far! Next update should be the installation of the motherboard!

Thanks for your kind words, I appreciate it

Motherboard is out for delivery, but most likely won't be here til later tonight, since UPS tends to like to torture me with waiting all day long

I won't be able to fire up the rig tonight, since I still have to order DDR3 memory, but didn't have money to spare. But I get paid tonight, so hopefully by early next week I'll have some memory to install and I'll finally get the chance to fire up this rig!

Pics to come later!

Thanks guys! Once again, work has consumed almost all of my free time these days, but that's okay, I'm not rushing this build. It gives me more time to drool over pretty - yet expensive - parts that I want haha.

I got the motherboard the other day and I just ordered DDR3 memory from G-Skill. I read nothing but good reviews from them and they really do take an interest in their reviews on Newegg, not to mention a lifetime warranty, so I feel secure going with them for my memory needs. The recent news of OCZ no longer taking part in memory is sad, I was debating them but I'm not sure about their lifetime warranty deal, if they would still honor that or not, but I'm playing it safe with G-Skill.

I got 2 4 GB sticks coming (total of 8 GB) and I need to get the 64-bit edition of Windows 7...which once again, I cannot afford to order at this point. I promise to have pictures very soon, my camera batteries died (non-rechargeable, unfortunately) so I'll have to scrounge around for some spares somewhere or buy some new ones.

Thanks a lot for the subs guys, I really do appreciate it, it feels good knowing there's people that are interested in my project

As of now, the memory might be here by Wednesday or Thursday, so expect an update then, with pictures! Thanks guys!
