ive been planning on buying this combo, and now i have saved up enough money for it i was looking at al the stuff again. people seem to be having issuse with the ram. is this combo worth it? evn though the ram is specifically designed for i5 and i7 cpu's does that mean itl have problems on amd systems?

Looks like a great combo, but I would prefer the x4 in the other combo over the x6. Unfortunately the mobo that comes with the x4 is microATX, which I am guessing is less desirable compared to the GA-890GPA-UD3H you would be getting with your combo.

As far as ram goes, take a look at this thread if you have not already:

http://www.overclock.net/amd-memory/...ed-faster.html

You'll notice that there is little difference essentially between 1333 and 1600, and that timings make a little more difference with AMD than MHZ. If the article proves true, you will be better off with the OCZ ram at 1333 7-7-7- than the 1600 g.skill at 9-9-9-.

It'd be nice if you could find a good PhII x4BE with the GA 890GPA and the OCZ (or better suited g.skill/corsair/insert reliable brand here) ram.

Do not get any of these combos. They always have the worst part choices for little discount.
My recommendation:
Phenom II x4 955 + GA-870A-UD3 - $234
G.Skill NQ 1600 9-9-9 - $45
Samsung F3 1TB - $60 at Superbiiz

Total is $340 but you get much better quality parts.

1600 9-9-9 slightly outperforms or equals 1333 7-7-7, but also usually overclocks better.
