Will taking this card apart void my lifetime warranty though guys? And would I need to put new thermal paste on it? The same thermal paste as a CPU?

Oh, just to add to the conversation iStorm, don't regret buying the 465s or anything. People give them hell because YES they are "crippled 470s" but they are still great cards. People just don't recommend them because the GTX460's performance (the 1GB version) is all over the 465 and costs like $50 less (or it did when launched). The way I saw it was that with a 465, you are paying X-amount of money more for a Tri-SLi compatible version (which was more future-proof in my eyes). The GTX460 may offer the same performance, but you are stuck with two max.

At the time they came out: Three 465s for $250, each unlocked to $350 470s=Tri Sli GTX 470s for $750 as opposed to $1050. PLUS!!! High OCing 470s are super close to stock GTX480s

Nope! Shouldnt at all! I have returned cards with different thermal pastes and such too! You bought an EVGA card and they are all for OCing and modding Great Company! +1 rep for EVGA!

*edit*
Yes, you can use any thermal compound as you do for CPUs. This will also drop temps if you get a good one! I also recommend these:
http://www.evga.com/products/moreInf...0Hardware&sw=4

They will increase exhaust air flow. Dropped my temps around 3-5C well worth $10 if you ask me! (you will only notice a change if you manually increase the fan speeds though. When left on auto, it isnt exhausting enough air for it to get backed up and increase temps and such. My temps with 70% fan dropped by adding these by 3-5C at the same 70% speed)

Will not void warranty as long as you do not break anything. You should replace the paste while the sink is off. Yes, you use the same paste. I'm using GC-2 on mine.

What about using Artic 5 Silver ? That's what I use on my CPU. It looks like there is a lot of surface area in that video . Do you just apply a big blob to the middle like on a CPU? Or do I need a lot more and to spread it with a business card?

Thanks for the rep! Glad to help Its quite exciting lol! I dont think I will forget the feeling of successfully unlocking all mine! *is in nerd mode now*

Artic Silver 5 is great! Definitely way beyond the OEM compound on the card! (and just so you know, if you accidentally get some paste on the board or surrounding area, dont worry, it is non-conductive)

*edit*
Oh! and you apply it the same way as you do to the CPU. Some people use a pea-sized bead in the middle, others (like myself) smear a thin layer all over the CPU/GPU. I personally believe either works just as well (as long as you dont put TOO much!)

I dunno about AS5 being non-conductive. Maybe someone should have a chime in here? I remember it being a conductive TIM I think. Don't take my word for it though. I'm only around 60% sure.
