What monitor should i buy?

Thread Starter
I'm buying a new 22" monitor so i don't know what monitor resolution should i choose. I can buy 1920x1080 16:9 or add a little more money and buy 1680x1050 16:10. I will use it mostly for gaming and rarely for movies.

Gpu will be 6850.

Hi funcut, it seems to me that higher resolution is almost always better... just in case you need it.

yes obviously fps will drop, however you have a 6850 i dont think you will currently have any issues with low framerates.

in addition to that, you can change you desktop/ game resolution to many different choices....

if your going to ask for advice, dont negate the first comment. no one will want to advise you

Honestly you will be much happier with the higher resolution. My monitor is 1080p and I wish it was higher sometimes. The video card you have chosen will have no issue whatsoever maxing most games you throw at it at 1920x1080.

Get the higher res monitor so your movies and other things will look nice, if you are worried about FPS keep in mind, most high end gaming pros go lower res so they get better performance and kill you before you see them You shouldn't have any problem though right now with the FPS at a higher res.

get the 1920x1080 monitor.
if your 6850 is starting to choke, you could always turn down the resolution to 1690x1050 and "pretend" you bought the other monitor lol

get the 1920x1080 monitor.
With your graphics card, the last thing you should be worrying about is low framerates at 1920x1080. Yep, your frame rates will be lower, but still plenty high so that you won't notice anything.

If you'd like to compare, I game on 1920x1080, and my GTX 260 is weaker than your 6850. I haven't experienced low frame rates in any game but GTA IV, and that was more my CPU and it was my GPU.
