CPU bottleneck GPU?

Thread Starter
Hi there, I'm new on this forum and I'm not that good in PC stuff
Here's my question
Now I have a 9800GT 1gb version and I want to upgrade to a GTX570 and upgrade my old PSU460W to CoolerMaster GX-750 W and I was wondering if I can put them in SLi(well not really SLi but you know what I mean) 9800 for physx and GTX570 for rendering but will my AMD phenom 2 x4 925 bottleneck my rig ? if yes how much should I overclock it ?
Thanks!

Probably, you should Overclock it until you see very high GPU usage or it won't OC anymore.

I don't think a gtx570 w/ dedicated physx card is considered SLI. And yes, your cpu will bottle neck your system. I don't know how much but I would recommend you overclock it as much as possible... Why not?

Just to clarify, using the cards as you described isn't SLI.

Also once you start gaming, check and see what your CPU usage is, if it is at 100% and you are still suffering, then your CPU cann't get enough information out to the GPU's.

Is your current processor at stock settings?

Yep but I'm planing on buying a Thermalright Silver Arrow to, will 3.6, 3.8 ghz be enough?

EDIT: and What psu should I buy with 160$ then? >.<

That is not necessarily true because today we use multi-core processor, but still play games that are not well optimized for multi-core setups, your CPU may not be stressed at 100%, but is still bottle-necking your GPU.

For example if A game only uses 2-cores and you have a 4-core CPU, your CPU usage maybe 50%, but you still have a significant bottleneck.

However, if you increase clock speed then information can pass faster over the 2-cores that you are using and thus you will be able to obtain more information within you GPU and then the GPU can output more FPS.
