Lower power consumption and it's more efficient. We're only one aspect of the computing "arena" - if you look at probably the largest market segment (in terms of money put in), servers will run better and cost less to run. When you're looking at 64 or even 128GB of RAM, speeds start to become a real factor, as well as the power consumed. When large server farms are looking to get the most performance per Watt, progress like this helps.
