OK, I passed p95 blend through the night @ 23 X 160, but had to throw voltage up everywhere to do so. I also had the RAM @ 1600, which I've not been able to do before throwing the QPI up so high. I then dropped the ram to the 2:8 divider and tried for 23 X 163 = 3.75; this gave me a 101 BSOD.

My voltages are as follows:

1.35 vcore (1.344 in cpuz)
1.4 QPI/vtt
1.65 DRAM
1.2 ICH & IOH
1.88 CPU PLL

On a side note, I threw this fan controller in my case. It helps my temps/silences my fans(either or but not both ) http://www.google.com/images?q=lampt...w=1680&bih=868

My issue is this: my aux temp in speedfan, which i guess is my NB, hits about 75C when my three AP181s are @ ~600rpm. I can keep them down to 65 - 72 load if their running @ 1200rpm, but it's too loud.

What voltage causes the NB to get so hot?
What voltages should I try to lower and test that my overclock is still stable?
Is 1.4 too much for QPI/vtt? I don't think 1.375 will cut it at these settings.
Is my chip IMC really that bad?
Where should I go from here?

I wouldn't do it. Primarily because this generation is still in its infancy. There's loads more to come in 2011. In particular, the hexa and octo core CPUs with quad-channel memory. Unless they cost £800 for a CPU, should be the upgrade to look at.

its quite possible to have got a poor imc, i know i definately did, chance we take when you play the silicon lottery! ioh relates to northbridge voltage, as well as qpi voltage,i used to love my R2E because the poster would tell you temps in real time, and i found my northbridge to get hotter than cpu, but XMP on my doms would set qpi to like 1.5 or something, lol. what are your cpu load temps? can it afford/are you comfortable with more vcore, you are running a noctua d14 arent you?.i think you need to lower your multi and lift your bclk, 181x21 will give you 3.8?? or even 200x19?

3.5 is not too bad except for the fact the SB is stock at 3.4 so I dunno, bummer. Rock and a wall.

I guess a little more vcore wouldn't hurt, since the temps aren't too bad. I am kinda fond of staying under 70C, I don't know why it just sounds good. I do have the d14:

and I'm thinking about lapping the cpu's heatspreader, it helped a lot with my e8500 and tuniq 120.

I'll give it a try, I had trouble getting bclk past 180 when I had the cpu and mem multis low to see how high bclk would go, but that was before I threw QPI/vtt up to 1.4, thanks.
