Hey i got a 740be edition and got it to 3817.2mhz on 1.472v and wounldn't go any futher past that, my core temps went to 42 c after 2 hours, i used prime95 for stress testing.

wont go past 3.6 on quad or i havnt tried too much yet. its at 3.6 with 1.4v as quad. plenty of power for me

Alright. I set the voltage to 1.48 and so far im into prime a little over a hour and sitting at 38 degrees. I'll let it run all night before I call it stable. *fingers crossed*

A tiny bump in those voltages won't hurt and may help to stabilize the system. Don't get crazy, only give it what it needs to make it stable but again, it's more or less a matter of getting to really know what the system as a whole needs.

1.48v's isn't bad, keep going to see how far it will go at that voltage if it passes the current run.

So far I unlocked my x3 740 to a x4 40, whatever that is, it its running fine so far, I never really benched it in a before/after, but of course I still could.

I haven't OCed it yet, I have to learn about the temp. monitoring/sensor issues with unlocked these first.

Just know if you don't already that when you unlock cores, you lose the ability to read temps exept in the BIOS itself.
HWmonitor and other utils like it won't help as long as the chip has cores unlocked.

umm... u can still monitor the socket temps when it's unlocked... Now that u mention it, i never checked the bios to see if it shows core temps there

If you look at my post, in HWmonitor, the CPUTIN temp is the CPU "socket" temp which you can still see when you unlock it. Keep that under 55c and you are golden
