Not really. Considering an SR-2 build is twice the cost of an 1155 build.

75k PPD SR-2
50k PPD x 2 1155

1155 > SR-2 for folding

edit: and by the way, I'm typing on an SR-2 build now, so if anything, I am bias toward the SR-2

lol that would be so sweet

I don't think it's possible as 1155 CPU's lack a QPI to allow the processors to communicate at any decent speed.

Doubt there will be any. Maybe with 1356 or 2011.

Ivy Bridge isn't exclusive to any one socket, though 1155 will most likely get 22nm parts before 1356 does.

I remember Intel stating that there won't be any 8-core Sandy Bridge parts @ 32nm, that we would have to wait until Ivy Bridge for the 8-core parts which will more than likely be compatible with 1356 sometime in 2012, probably Q4.

There won't be any.

1155: Single-socket server
1356: Single- and dual-socket server
2011: Dual- and quad-socket server

Same as it is with current sockets.

I am almost certan there will be a multi-socket LGA2011 as it will be the socket for 2p servers. The question will be if any of these boards will allow overclocking like the SR-2.

I guess Ill have to wait longer for dual sockets. But 8 core IB would be the same as x2 sockets, I think.

As much as I would love a dual socket, they are expensive.
I cant wait for IB, the potential folding power is going to blow my mind.
