Cold Cathode Tubes

Thread Starter
This might be a really simple question and no results have come up in google so I decided to ask this massive community on what they think

I have accidentally snapped one of my cold cathode tubes. It is the tube in the middle that has snapped but the outer glass case is still fine.

Will it be alright to plug into my power supply and test it? Like, if I plug it in when it is broke, will it short the system?

Cheers

Hi.

If the inner element is damaged, the CCFL is no longer usable. If the outer tube is broken, but the inner element is intact the CCFL will still work.

Cold Cathodes are very fragile. You broke it.. Get some new ones.. whatever brand you like but i like the ones i saw at Frozen.cpu. They are tubes. They're build different.

http://www.frozencpu.com/cat/l2/g6/c...e_-_Tubes.html

scroll down to the bottom and look for brands called Mod Smart.
