is 6GB of Corsair TR3X6G1600C9 faster at 1600MHZ 9-9-9-24 or 1333MHZ 7-7-7-21?

Synthetic benchmarking is your answer. In real life applications I doubt you'll see any difference at all, but if you are interested in scores, try both.

you would see no difference between the two, because they are about the same latency.
now if you were comparing 1333 7-7-7 to 1600 7-7-7 it would be different.

When I went from DDR2 916 5-5-5-15 to DDR3 1526 9-9-9-24 about 5mins were added to my total complete time for transcoding a 480p mp4 to DVD format using nero vision 4. Will have to see if going to 8-8-8-23 is going to help any.

Well... 4 or 8 gigs will be faster, because you can't run triple channel on AMD boards. Your going to need to drop one of those sticks or else you'll be running in single channel mode which will lower your performance.

1600 9-9-9 and 1333 7-7-7 are about equal; 1600 9-9-9 is usually slightly better.
You're also running single channel, lose one of those 2GB DIMMs and you might just see a nice boost in all-around performance

My PC says it's running in dual channel right now. I remember reading somewhere that having 6GB on a dual channel board will map 4GB in dual channel and 2GB in single channel but will put more stress on the memory controller....

I tried removing 1 stick before and didn't see any difference between the 2.

another question hope that somebody can answer....

I'm looking to buy new memory since mine is for intel and i found this

"Patriot Sector 5 PGV38G1333ELK 8GB DDR3 2X4GB DDR3-1333 CL 9-9-9-24 1.65V Dual Channel Memory Kit" http://ncix.com/products/index.php?m...oduct_id=54174

now i currently have Corsair XMS3 running at 1333mhz 7-7-7-21 and i can go as high as 1600 9-9-9-24

The Patriot Sector 5 costs twice as much as my ram.... granted theres 8GB and i have 6GB but considering i can run timings of 7-7-7-21 and this one says 9-9-9-24.... does that make my memory better even tho' its half the price?

DOOOO NOOOOTTT BUUUYYYY
Didn't you just see those specs!?
DDR3-1333 CL 9-9-9-24 1.65V
UNACCEPTABLE.
They're out of stock too by the way.

And the "for Intel platform" or "P55 optimized" think is just marketing scam. Ignore it; RAM is RAM.
