That's the only reason why I've been using premixed coolant, because they are made specifically for this application.
Well there is distilled and then there is distilled deionized. Distilled deionized is absolutely pure. Simple distilled water still may have trace amounts of ions in it but is still very pure (probably over 99%).
The lab I work in has distilled deionized water on tap. It even runs through a special filtering machine that ensures it is ion free and tests the electrical resistance to ensure its purity. It has a resistance of 18 Mega Ohms according to the little lcd screen.
