If you plan on using a discrete video card on the P67 platform(which 99% of this forum's users will be) then it's of little concern really.
PAVP is mostly if you want to watch Blu-ray discs on your PC. It's also present on newer discrete GPU's.

It's almost like Intel is moving towards licensing processors for use under their conditions, rather than selling them.
i.e. You buy a chip, but are not allowed to do certain things with it, Intel can disable it at their leisure. Admittedly, the chances of Intel doing a mass disable are slim, but there are still restrictions on your use of the chip, which, to me, is abhorrent.

tl;dr It's not the direct implications of the DRM (although it is a factor), but rather the principle of being restricted in the use of a piece of hardware you supposedly "own".

So if you own a gun nobody should be able to tell you who or what you can and can't shoot?

It's sounds like freedom isn't really free, and people who grew up on their computers just need a reality check.

A mod really needs to check this thread it has no meaning.
Intel is not going to tell you what to do with your Cpu.
They will not disable your CPU because of all of the "free" movies you already have.
There's no freedom only things your allowed to do.

I really hope you're not trying to make an analogy between guns and processors.
Pro tip: Using analogies only furthers your argument if they actually make any sense.

They remind me of the NRA people, which is why that analogy came up...

They also remind me of teenagers struggling with their parents over who really has the power.
