HDD not detected in bios.

Thread Starter
Hay I am currently running 2 HDD, They are diffrent makes, and have different capacity sizes, I used to have 2 of them working, however for some strange reason, when I changed the case for my computer and reset the bios, I can only get 1 HDD working at one time, if another one gets connected it just wont detect it.
I really need this working as I want to back up all my games on another HDD and reformat.
Cheers.

You may have to put your OS drive in a "lower number" slot. As in hook up your OS drive to the 1st SATA port on you MOBO, then the other into the 2nd or 3rd.

I ran into this with my SSD, but is a simple fix. Hopefully it will work for you

Sounds really basic but have you ensured that all the cables are plugged in securely? I have overlooked loose connections before...

Sounds like you have put the jumpers wrong. Are the drives connected with IDE?

Might need to change the controller to compatibility mode. As you didn't mention what size or what type of drives they was. How about listing what kind they are, ide/pata/sata and the size they are. If it is a older ide drive the jumpers need to be set correctly.

Yea all of the cables are plugged in, The Hdd that is in sata 1 will always show up, however anything higher wont, and all the satas as working as I have checked them with other components.

the drive with my OS is 225, and the other one is 120 and they are Sata drives

Are there any settings in the BIOS that dictate what ports are enabled? I have that in mine and I can turn the ports on/off. Also they're dependent on the port number too, although you mentioned that it's plugged into port #2

Each drive in a system is either a Master, or a Slave. That is set by a jumper that is near the connectors. To avoid confusion, you must place both drives on "Cable Select". Also, you said "The Hdd that is in sata 1" then you said that they are IDE. Which is true?
